Run the 2025 London Marathon for a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

I am running the 2025 London Marathon because I want to help Meningitis Research Foundation achieve their goal of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

In August 2022 my husband Ben was diagnosed with viral meningitis. Despite having many of the symptoms it was not diagnosed during his initial stay in hospital. The following week when he developed a facial palsy he was eventually re-admitted and transferred to ARI and diagnosed. He has made a good, although not full, recovery. It seems that both meningitis and septicaemia, sometimes leading to sepsis, are often misdiagnosed and I hope the MRF can help raise awareness within both the medical world and in homes everywhere.

I think I may only do one marathon in my lifetime and because of this I wanted to do the most famous marathon in the world - LONDON! And why not do it in the same year I turn 50?

Both meningitis and septicaemia are illnesses that can affect anyone, please consider donating and every penny will help raise awareness and also help me put one foot in front of the other for 26.2 miles.

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
