Story
Julie-Anne, Julie, Paul, Helen & ShrimpTheStoma are TeamShrimp we are fundraising in 2024 for Maggie's Cardiff to help raise vital funds so that they can support others touched by Cancer. To show that there is life after Cancer and there is a life worth living with a Stoma.
Paul, Julie-Ann, Helen, Julie & #ShrimpTheStoma are proud to fundraise in 2024 for Maggie's Cardiff we are doing the Cardiff Half Marathon 2024.
Paul was diagnosed with Stage3 Bowel Cancer in April 2022 after treatment to remove the large bowel a permanent colostomy Stoma was put in place. He affectionately calls Shrimp. Paul & Julie-Ann were supposed to run Cardiff Half Marathon in 2023 but Paul developed a Parastomal Hernia thus ruling him out of running full stop. Julie-Ann ran it on her own.
Since then we have all come together to help Paul get back to running so together we can raise vital funds for Maggie's Cardiff.
We also want to raise awareness of Stoma's and show people that having to have a Stoma doesn't mean the end of life as a stoma gives us life. There are 1 in every 335 people in the UK who are alive today because they have a stoma in Wales alone there are over 9,500 People.
The centre is next door to Velindre Cancer Hospital in Cardiff and offers support, vital information, activities, or even a place to be alone for the patients and their families. It really is a special place.
