Story

After my spinal cord injury 11 months ago I had many hours of excellent rehab as an inpatient in hospital, which Neurokinex has brilliantly continued in the last 4 months.

They have pushed me to attain goals I could scarcely have imagined possible, such as walking with a frame but without an orthosis on my previously completely paralysed right leg, progressing to walking increasing distances with crutches, and standing for ever-longer times without support.

This fundraising challenge is for the Neurokinex Step Up Scheme, which is vital to ensure that people with recent spinal cord injuries are able to continue their essential rehab after discharge from hospital. The scheme provides 6 hours of free sessions to get people like me started on their journey.

Thanks to Neurokinex's progressive yet safety-conscious rehab, I will be able to do all three activities in the Step Up Tri challenge: Ski erg, leg bike, and walking (with crutches). The aim is to do 5km: 1km ski erg, 3.6km bike, and 12 laps (0.4km) walking.
