Please help me raise money for Laburnum Boat Club, the children's charity in Hackney that my wife (Beth) runs!
I will be running the Hackney Half Marathon on Sunday 19 May 2024 for this great cause - so please do donate what you can.
The Laburnum Boat Club is a community-based boating project by the Regents Canal in South Hackney. Opened in 1983, Laburnum is a small charity that provides opportunities for the personal development of young people and their families in the local community through participation in a range of water-based activities - ultimately aiming "to be a positive force for changing lives in a safe and supportive environment" and targets disadvantaged, disabled and vulnerable young people.
By providing affordable and accessible activities that challenge, motivate and include, the Boat Club supports young people to reach their full potential.
As a small charity any money raised is vital to keep their gates open and keep resources available for the young people they work with. This year Laburnum needs some extra support to raise funds for the much needed redevelopment of the A-Frame building the Club uses, and that gives the young people a warm, safe space to learn and grow. This support being required on top of the year-on-year fundraising that's required to keep the charity running.
Laburnum Boat Club is an amazing local resource. It has thousands of visits by young people every year (over 4,000 in 2022 alone) and can only continue its great work with donations such as yours. A £5 donation will provide access for a disadvantaged young person to access the Youth Club for a day; £100 allows the Club to provide a free year's membership for a young person to come along as much as they like
You can find out more about the Boat Club and the work it does by visiting their website - https://www.laburnumboatclub.com/
Please help us carry on the brilliant work that they do!
Thank you!
