Story
I will be cycling with an old school friend, Matt Eastburn, from Land’s End to John O’Groats, starting on 5 May. The aim is to cover almost 1,000 miles in 9 days without support and I would like to raise some money and awareness for the work of The Hands Up Foundation in the process.
Hands Up provides funds to help refugees in and around Syria, focusing particularly on health and education. It funds the salaries of Syrian doctors, nurses and teachers, encouraging them to stay and use their skills inside Syria and in the displacement areas immediately around. All this is in recognition that keeping a healthy, educated population will help to restore peace and prosperity to the area in the longer-term.
Hands Up is also very happy to take donations directly and its website give more information on its activities and future events:
Thank you for your consideration and generosity and remember, however much you give, this will hurt me a great deal more than it will hurt you!
