Event: Great Manchester Run 2024, on 26 May 2024
For 200 years, discoveries made at Manchester have changed the world. But for everything that’s already been achieved, there’s much more left to do. You’ll make sure the best researchers bring us closer to solving our world’s biggest challenges.

Story

I am training to run the Manchester 10k by joining the University Purple Wave, together with Jess and Georgia from the bp-ICAM team. I can't remember if I have ever run 10k; right now I am just running 5k and I will probably do a run-walk strategy but I am determined to finish it and hopefully within one hour.

This year the Purple Wave will be raising funds to support the amazing research taking place at Manchester to tackle the world's biggest problems – like climate change, poverty and diseases such as cancer and stroke. Each pound that you donate will contribute to this research and could help us find the next life-changing discovery.

Also, this will be my FIRST and LAST time running the Manchester 10k as I will be leaving my job at the University and moving back to Spain in June. I want to make this fundraising opportunity a celebration of my time in Manchester. Please join me in supporting the University in this great cause by sponsoring me with as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Each and every pound is greatly appreciated.
