Story
As lots of you know already, I work for the brilliant mental health charity Leeds Mind. Mental health impacts us all and the support Leeds Mind offer is life changing for so many but also so in need of continued funding. I am open about my own mental health and the struggles I have faced. Leeds Mind values and employs people who have experience(d) mental health difficulties and a lot of our services are led entirely from lived experience and peer support.
This June a group of staff (plus some family members) have challenged ourselves to complete the Total Warrior course in order to raise as much money as we can.
We are staff members from a variety of projects who have our own challenges and mental health difficulties when it comes to doing this: age; weight; fitness levels; fear of failure; gender identity; how we look when exercising; anxiety; body image. Our plan is to support each other to complete the course with understanding, support and a lack of judgement.
Total warrior is essentially a 12km assault course, so personally it's going to be a big old challenge :-)
