Story
My journey to recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. For years, I was lost in the grips of addiction, with no support or hope. My family was involved in the drug world, and I had never known anything different.
It wasn't until I found Nexus Recovery Center that I began to believe that there was another way.
For a decade, I struggled with addiction and was in and out of Nexus. The real turning point for me was after I woke up in jail and had no idea what happened. I was willing to do whatever it took to no longer be in this kind of situation. When I got out of prison, I joined a Narcotics Anonymous group, and I leaned on my support system like my sponsor and people who worked at Nexus.
In 2022, I became a recovery coach when someone at Nexus recommended I go for the job. As a recovery coach, it’s been a life-changing experience. I have the privilege of helping others find their way to recovery and removing barriers for my peers.
One client in particular stands out in my mind and reminds me of the impact we have. When she first came to Nexus, she had lost all hope. We helped her with some financial assistance and other needs, but most importantly, we stuck by her, believed in her, and motivated her to push through. We were able to provide the necessary support for her to turn her life around.
Now, she has done a complete 360. She’s a house mom at her recovery home. She currently has a job and is also going back to school. She is still in recovery, but she knows that she has a support system in place to help her through the tough times. And it's all thanks to Nexus Recovery Center.
I truly believe that Nexus is a place where miracles happen.
Any donation goes a long way to getting them on the path of recovery. It helps remove some of the barriers they face, so they begin to thrive and recover. Every dollar donated to Nexus goes toward helping people like myself, and thousands of other women find their way to recovery. Please consider donating to this incredible organization, and helping us continue to change lives.
