Story
In September 2023, Florence and I got married and were planning our honeymoon to South America at the start of 2024.
In November, Flo started to feel unwell and was experiencing unpleasant symptoms. With ongoing tests and uncertainty surrounding her health, we unfortunately had to cancel our honeymoon and focus on Flo's health as a priority.
3 months later, after numerous blood tests, scans and finally a liver biopsy, she was finally diagnosed with Primary Sclerosis Cholangitis (PSC) and Auto-Immune Hepatitis. In PSC, the body attacks the bile ducts by causing strictures, which can lead to infections and damage to the liver. Not only that, people with PSC most commonly experience fatigue, pain and itch, and have an increased risk of some aggressive cancers.
Unfortunately, as of now PSC has no cure or medical treatment and will be a progressive condition that Flo has to live with for the rest of her life. It has been an extremely tough and challenging time for us as a family but Flo is staying super strong + positive as we negotiate this difficult news.
I was lucky enough to get a place in the London Marathon on Sunday 21st April and want to do my bit to help generate funds for PSC Support.
PSC Support is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by the rare, autoimmune disease, primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). Donating to my fundraising page means you are helping PSC Support to provide much-needed support and information to people affected by PSC. Critically, you'll be helping PSC Support to fund and drive groundbreaking PSC research, taking us closer and closer to a cure.
Any donations, big or small will be hugely appreciated. For those coming down on the day to support, I look forward to high-fiving you all along route!
Every penny counts.
Thank you. #LetsBeatPSC
