Story

My beloved Grandad, Shirley Dilkes sadly passed away in January 2024 at the age of 91. My grandad was battling stomach cancer and was admitted to LOROS for end of life care. He often called the nurses at LOROS angels and they could not do enough for him during his time at the hospice. I also know how much support the organisation offered to my Mum, Aunties and the rest of the family.

Therefore, I’ve decided to run and bike a 91KM ultramarathon (on Saturday 8th June 2024) to celebrate and remember the 91 happy years of my Grandad’s life. I’d also like to ask for donations in my Grandads memory to keep funding the amazing work which LOROS do in Leicestershire. Without these donations they are unable provide the necessary care to dignify our loved ones in their final days, weeks or months.
