Anybody who knows me knows that I am not one for posting personal grievances online, but I feel too strongly about this charity not too. On the 13th September 2023, my Dad, Stephen Tempestoso lost his courageous battle to an extremely belligerent and rare form of cancer, aged 55 years old. Not only have I been robbed of golden years with my Dad, I have also been robbed of a best friend whose love was unconditional. His smile, laugh, and music made the world a better place. My Dad was a soul mate, a brother, a son, an uncle, and a best friend to many. He touched the hearts of many people and his absence gets more difficult every day.

On the 8th September 2024, I will be participating in the Great North Run to raise money for Marie Curie, 5 days prior to the one year anniversary of my Dad’s passing. This is something I promised my Dad that I would do in his final few weeks.

Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.

With Marie Curies’ help, my Dad was able to pass away peacefully. This made his passing dignified and comfortable.
