Story
Hi Folks, I’ve signed up again this year for the Malin2Mizen cycle4CF to fund raise for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. The charity cycle is 640km over 4 days.
CF Ireland are a fantastic organisation whose funding directly supports the CF community in Ireland. Being involved in the fund raising over the last few years, I’ve met some amazing people in the CF community, it is heart warming to hear the stories of how CF Ireland have supported people living with CF through the generosity and support of people like you.
As well as providing grants, funding research and providing support services to people living with CF in Ireland, they also support people with CF through IVF treatments and have funded the construction of specialist CF treatment facilities in Ireland.
In October ‘18 our daughter was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Although it was a shock, the support we received and the resources that were made available to us were fantastic. Lily, our daughter, has been lucky enough to have started on some of the new drug treatments. While these new drug therapies will hopefully be life changing, they are not a cure. As research progresses we hope the range of drug therapies will continue to expand so those who are not currently eligible to start on one of these medicines will be able to do so in the future.
So again, I’m cycling to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, for the wonderful support it provides to people and their families living with CF.
I’m cycling to support the lobbying for continued research and funding into this condition so hopefully one day a cure will be discovered and
most importantly, I’m cycling for my beautiful daughter, Lily.
