I would like to raise as much money as possible to support The Twinkling Stars bereavement unit at The William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

We recently lost our baby 17 weeks into the pregnancy and it has been the most difficult thing I’ve had to deal with by far.

Nothing can prepare you for the news or nightmare ahead but having access to Twinkling Stars Unit and staff made a big difference.

I will be taking part in my first half marathon in Canterbury on 28th August. I would like to raise funds to make other families time in hospital after losing a baby as bearable as possible. Some of the things we would like to raise money for are:

-A new camera. The one they have is really old and the pictures for the memory box were poor quality

-Private wifi for the suite or a free view box initially. The hospital wifi doesn’t work in the suite and they don’t have a free view box. We were sat in silence for hours and it would’ve been nice to watch something to block out the noise and take our mind off the situation, as the TV did not work without satellite or wifi.

-Air con units. Apart from the bereavement suite, none of the rooms have air con which is impractical for bereaved parents wanting to spend time with their baby. The rooms are really hot and they need to keep their baby cold. It would be good if we can get air con installed so that the rooms are multi functional for normal and bereaved families.

- An additional room. There is currently only one bereavement room and if this is taken, the families could have to go on the main ward with other families/babies. This would be very expensive but would make such a difference to families that need it.
