Story
Hi, my name is Jordan and I’m a researcher in LSCFT Research and Development department. Alongside my role as a researcher, I am the departments Health and Wellbeing Champion. Being a champion involves coming up with initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of my colleagues.
For December’s activity, I wanted to do something that got us all up and moving so we stay active during the colder weather. I have split the department into teams and each team has to complete 500,000 steps between them from December 1st to 31st. Not only will we be making a conscious effort to be more active, we will also be raising money for the Foxton Centre.
The Foxton Centre provides support and services for rough sleepers here in the city of Preston. We also run youth clubs and community services from our centre in Avenham. The charity also works with women street sex workers. Established in 1969, The Foxton Centre is one of the city’s longest established charities.
Not only will we improve our health (and maybe even making a conscious effort to get more steps in a great habit to start the New Year with!), we will be giving back to a charity that is local to us and has been a great source of support for our patients and colleagues.
We appreciate this is a difficult time of year in terms of money and we’ll be grateful if you can spare 50p or £5 – it all counts!
Thank you :D
