Story
3 lads, 150 miles, 4500m of climbing, 1 day.
In June myself, Curtis Mearns, and Matt Miles will be cycling the width of the country to raise money for Cyclist Fighting Cancer.
Loosely following Wainwright's famous route, we will begin our journey at dawn with our feet in the Irish Sea. From there it is uphill into the Lake District, summiting the lung-busting Hardknott Pass before making our way towards the Yorkshire Dales. We will receive a brief respite across the Vale of York before navigating the stabby climbs of the North York Moors and descending into Whitby and taking a dip in the North Sea.
CFC help children and young people living with cancer across the UK regain their physical fitness, improve mental wellness and reduce social isolation by giving them new lightweight bikes, specially adapted trikes, cycling related equipment and support.
Since 2005 they have helped over 9,500 families and we are passionate about sharing the benefits of exercise and activity for people living with and beyond cancer.
With dramatic scenery and iconic climbs, it promises to be a fantastic day. Finger crossed the weather is kind to us and we are able to keep the cramp at bay, motivated by the great work this charity does (and the promise of fish and chips at the finish)!!!
Any donations to this extremely worthy cause will be gratefully received.
