Story
Myself ( Jordan ) a long with some of my family and friends are taking part in the 2023 Walk of Hope Milton Keynes for Brain tumour research. This is in support of my Grandad, Richard Newcombe.
My grandad was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma in October 2022, he was given a devastating prognosis of 14-18 months.
He underwent a craniotomy in October 2022 that was very successful in removing all of the visible tumour. This was then followed up by 4 weeks of radiotherapy & 6 cycles of chemotherapy.
In February 2023, Richard had a follow up MRI scan, and we got the fantastic news that there was still no sign of tumour. Richard managed to get to Disney in Florida with all of his family including his 2 little great granddaughters Harper & Elsie.
Unfortunately in June 2023 the next MRI scan showed re growth of tumour. Richard underwent a 2nd craniotomy on the 28th June which was again successful in removing all visible tumour.
Unfortunately before radiotherapy could start, on 3rd August 2023 the MRI scan taken just a few weeks after surgery gave us the devastating news that my grandads tumour has already returned and spread to different parts of the brain. Radiotherapy is no longer an option due to it now not being in only one area, however Richard has opted to go ahead with the chemotherapy to extend his life for as long as he possibly can.
Please help us and join the fight by sponsoring us to raise money for the amazing charity, Brain Tumour Research who hopefully with all of our help can help fight Brain Cancer and the unforgiving effects it has on individuals & their families lives.
Thank you ❤️
