Story
On the 27th April 2025, I will be taking to the streets of London and running 26.2 miles in aid of Marie Curie as a Willy’s Warrior! We as a family, have been raising money for Marie Curie in memory of Willy Knox since 2016. However, this is the first time I personally have taken on the challenge of a full marathon.
Willy Knox, who sadly passed away from Bowel Cancer in 2015 was supported by The Belfast Marie Curie hospice. Willy joked that he was 'the fittest and sickest he's ever been' after the weekly physiotherapy sessions that Marie Curie provided for him. We are eternally grateful for the help and kindness shown to Willy and his family during this time and we know how proud he’d be that we are still raising funds to help others in similar situations.
All the money raised will help Marie Curie provide vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and their families at the toughest of times. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference. Your support will not only motivate me to push through those 26.2 miles but will also contribute to the following:
£3 helps fund a meal for a patient in one of their hospices.
£26 helps fund an hour of bereavement support by phone or webchat.
£207 helps fund nine hours of overnight nursing care in a patient's home.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
