Story
I will be running the 'Total Warrior 12k' in Leeds to help raise money and awareness for Leeds Mind. This cause is very close to my heart and I aim to not only raise money but also awareness to the support out there for anyone struggling with or talking about their mental health.
In December of 2023 I lost the man I considered my role model, my friend but most of all my dad. He was the most giving person you would ever have the privilege of meeting, did everything for everyone else, so much so he didn't stop to look after himself. He was under so much pressure and stress but been the selfless man he was didn't want to burden anyone with his problems. I wish he did. We had so much planned for the future like holidays, new cars and charity events like the Yorkshire 3 peaks and Total Warrior. I was debating a long time about doing Total warrior as doing this without him will be heartbreaking but as his favourite quote goes 'It ain't about how hard you hit, It's about how hard you can get hit and can keep moving forward' So in his memory I have decided to challenge myself and do the 12k Total warrior challenge and raise awareness for the Leeds Mind Charity and the lifesaving work they do in campaigning to promote awareness and understanding of mental health and all the support offerings out there. For those who want to and are able to donate anything see the link to my just giving page All proceeds go to Leeds Mind. Any and all donations are much appreciated.
Leeds Mind supports the people of Leeds and surrounds to discover their own resources to 'recover' from periods of poor mental health, and to live life independently with their mental health condition.
1 in 4 people experience mental health difficulties in their lives. Whether that be depression, anxiety, isolation, stress, self harm, personality disorder, bereavement or any other negative mental health experience, Leeds Mind are here for you.
