Story
In June 2022 my lovely Dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at the age of 52. It's been quite the rollercoaster. We've all had to adapt to lots of changes. My Dad now lives downstairs in my parents’ house and is reliant on his wheelchair and a machine for his breathing. His movement is severely restricted and life is tough but he's got his voice and we've still managed to spend lots of quality time together in the years since his diagnosis.
My Dad is amazing, he's set up an Instagram page to show off all the brilliant things he's done with technology to make his life easier: https://url.uk.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/nWesC5Q74C1MYjZizfvSkg0CO?domain=instagram.com
Though he can't move much he can do things like unlock the front door, roll his duvet up and down and raise his bed - all with technology he's adapted. My Mum is also inspirational and has shouldered so much to get us all through this difficult time.
In 2023 I ran the Great North Run for MND with my best friend Rosie and when we got to the end I said how on earth do people run double that and do a marathon. But here we are, it only feels right to be running the Rob Burrow Marathon in May. Please support me if you can in raising money for vital support and research. There is no cure for MND. But there will be in the future.
