Story
Along with my 9 and 6 year old, I am taking part in the "Giant Howarth Sleepout", in collaboration with Huddersfield Giants Community Trust and Howarths Foundation.
As a family, we normally visit the John Smith Stadium to watch Huddersfield Town or Huddersfield Giants - but this time, we are visiting the stadium for much more poignant reasons!
Both charities work tirelessly with limited resources to engage and support individuals in their respective fields. Working in partnership on the Giant Howarth Sleepout, the ultimate goal is to support vulnerable individuals within our community, providing new projects and opportunities.
There are more than 250 homeless persons in our local community (Kirklees), with 18% of children in this region growing up in poverty, limiting their chances to take part in sport and physical activity.
It is an event designed to provide a powerful one-off experience to highlight the hardship that many individuals have to experience on a daily basis, being a lesson as much for me as my two young kids!
At France+Associates, we often work with individuals in desperate need of accommodation, being involved in helping individuals find a home. This includes those in homes that are not suitable and those that can't return to them following injury. We also help many young families into more suitable accommodation who are experiencing very difficult circumstances.
These two charities reflect many similarities to what France+Associates offer as services, to ultimately help and support those in need.
Any donation is more than welcome, with France+Associates pledging to match any sponsorship made to my two kids and I!
