Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi I’m Jona you may well know me as a massive Wrexham fan, being kitchen manager in top spoons, being a cycling nerd or you may have stumbled here by some other means but thanks for dropping by!
I'm taking part in the Grande Depart of the Tour de France in June 2025 for Prostate Cancer UK. A 185km (115miles) bike ride following the same route as the first stage of the iconic bike race, starting a week later. I’m a keen amateur cyclist but haven’t even attempted anything close to this level before. I’ll be doing this in support of Prostate Cancer UK in memory of my Dad.
Prostate cancer now affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's thousands of dads, partners, brothers, grandads, uncles and mates. One of these people was sadly my Dad, Mike Devitt.
My Dad was an avid sports fan all his life and cycling was one of the passions we shared together, before his illness we shared many bike rides around the local area and sometimes further afield, but never quite as far as the Tour de France! Mikes favourite place in the world was holidaying in France with his family so you can see where this is going!! We also were Wrexham season ticket holders together spending many Saturdays toiling away watching them before his passing and sadly before the boom that was the take over of the club. I cant think of a more fitting tribute to raise funds in memory of my Dad than taking on a stage of the legendary bike race.
My Dad is survived by Mum (Sue) my brother Col, another keen fundraiser for Prostate cancer UK and myself. He was also Pops to his 4 grandchildren
