In memory of Lauren Lily Darby
The SCBU at Good Hope provides 24 hour care for babies born prematurely. The hospital charity aims to support the unit in providing the most advanced machinery and support over and above what the NHS can fund.

Story

Our precious daughter Lauren would have reached the grand old age of 16 on 22nd January 2023.

Born very prematurely, Lauren lived for just 4 days. Everyone who knows us is aware that there is something missing in our life. All of Lauren’s magic moments. Acceptance is tough, sadness is forever. But Lauren was more than just a twinkle in our eyes.

So, in this, our 50th years we want to remember Lauren by asking friends and family to donate just a little to the Newborns In Need charity, rather than send us birthday gifts.

We’ll be doing things to honour what would have been her 16th year of life. And we will keep you posted on that…

Each year Heartlands (where both our daughters were born and looked after) and Good Hope Hospital cares for thousands of babies, some of whom are born early.

The neonatal Units provide 24 hour care for these babies using dedicated breathing machines, incubators and state of the art monitoring machines.

The hospital charity aims to support the unit in providing the most advanced medical equipment, over and above NHS Funding.

The Charity also aims to provide mothers and families with the added extras that they need to ensure that their stay on the ward is as comfortable as possible by providing soft furnishings such as comfortable feeding chairs, and plans to refurbish the parent overnight room and feeding room.
