A person is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, that's a staggering 170,000 missing people every year. We want to ensure we have the best chance to find all of these people. Let's clock up the miles together and we can achieve the target.

Story

Hello.

My name is Jonathan Blower and I am a Headteacher at a school in Sunderland (The City where I attended University in the 90s - See main picture on Graduation Day).

I am originally from Warwickshire but currently live in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne with my partner Claire and black Labrador Lucy.

I have completed 2 half marathons on previous occasions: Windsor (1990) and Silverstone (2003). I have completed the London Marathon twice in both 2004 and 2021. In the 2021 London Marathon I was delighted to complete it in a very pleasing time of 3 hours and 51 minutes. If you click on the icon next to the main picture, you will see pictures of that London Marathon back in 2021, as well as a picture of me and Lucy on Seaburn beach!!!!

With the kindness and support during the 2021 London Marathon from residents and friends in Leamington Spa; support from a local shop in Radford Semele; businesses and bars in Leamington Spa and University friends I was able to raise a total of £3195. I am forever grateful for those who supported and helped me reach this fantastic amount.

I am completing the Great North Run on Sunday, 8th September 2024 for Missing People and Mental Health. I believe that this is a very important charity to support both from an educational perspective when thinking about young people and also supporting adults who may encounter struggles and challenges in their day to day lives.

I have been very fortunate to work with young people in an educational setting since I was in my early twenties. It has been so rewarding to see so many to go onto great things even when they have struggled at a certain point with a specific event or a challenge that they may have faced. Kindness and a helping hand is so important in order to ensure that they can achieve positivity again and continue to feel safe, happy, confident and successful young people.

I am aiming to raise £1000, so if you are able to help me achieve this target, I would be most grateful. I will also be promoting this challenge via The Leamington Spa Courier, The Sunderland Echo and The Newcastle Chronical.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this information and I will hopefully hear from you soon.

With very best wishes

Jonathan
