Story

Help Us Make a Difference: Support Our Arctic Challenge for the National Literacy Trust!

We are thrilled to announce that we, John Bond and Imogen Hunter, are embarking on an incredible Arctic Challenge to raise funds for the National Literacy Trust! This adventure will take us through some of the harshest and most breathtaking landscapes on Earth, pushing our limits and testing our resilience.

Why the National Literacy Trust?

The National Literacy Trust works tirelessly to improve literacy levels across the UK, empowering children and adults with the reading and writing skills they need to succeed in life. By supporting our challenge, you’re helping to provide essential resources and programs that foster a love for reading and learning in underserved communities.

Our Journey

The Arctic Challenge is an exhilarating wilderness endurance event spanning a long weekend. Participants will engage in a dog sled race, Nordic skiing, ice fishing, orienteering, and woodland fire lighting, making it a truly inspiring adventure.

How You Can Help?

Every donation counts and brings us one step closer to our fundraising goal. We will be organising special events to help raise our intended funds. By spreading the word and sharing our JustGiving page with your friends, family, and social networks, you can amplify our reach and help us raise more funds. Your generous support will directly contribute to the National Literacy Trust’s initiatives, helping to create a brighter future for countless individuals.

The money you donate will help to transform the life stories of children living in disadvantaged communities in the UK.

On average, children from the poorest backgrounds start school with literacy skills which are 19 months behind their more privileged peers.

Children without these skills are held back at every stage of their lives. They are:

- Five times more likely to fail to meet the expected standards in English at age 11

- Four times more likely to struggle to read as adults

- Twice as likely to be unemployed aged 34

- Three times more likely to have mental health problems as adults

Thank you for your support
