Story

During 2025, I am completing 5 challenges with the aim of raising £8000 for Cruse Bereavement Support Isle of Man. Can we raise that much? Let's find out and have some fun trying!

I am raising money in memory of my daughter Lottie, a twin, who was stillborn at 36 weeks in May 2016. The funds are being raised for Cruse Bereavement Support Isle of Man. Cruse provided invaluable support for our two oldest children following Lottie's death, and we will be forever grateful for their help and support. My wife and I are proud to volunteer for Cruse supporting the fantastic work they do for our community.

Challenge 1: 19-25 April 2025 West Highland Way

I will be solo hiking the 97-mile West Highland Way, from Milngavie just north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. I'll be carrying all I need for the week and wild camping each night.

Challenge 2: 21-22 June 2025 IOM Parish Walk

Carrying my West Highland Way pack I’ll take on the 85-mile Parish Walk route that meanders through each of the Isle of Man's 17 parishes. I aim to get to Jurby at the 45 miles mark.

Challenge 3: 20 July 2025 Cruse Swim

The annual Cruse Swim takes place on 20 July and it seems too good an opportunity not to get involved and to contribute to the 10k swim.

Challenge 4: August 2025 Raad ny Foillan

This is a special one. My two youngest boys, Freddie (8) and Alfie (6), will join me for the 100-mile Raad ny Foillan as well as camping most evenings. This hike is especially meaningful as Freddie, Lottie's twin brother, and Alfie will be taking on this challenge with me.

Challenge 5: To Be Confirmed

I have a few enquiries into local events later in the year, but nothing is confirmed yet. If you have any ideas for my fifth challenge, please get in touch. Stay tuned for updates!

All funds raised will go directly to Cruse with me covering all related costs for travel, equipment, etc so Cruse will benefit fully from your generosity. I’ll be posting updates as I progress with my training, the kit I’ll be taking on the West Highland Way and on the fantastic generosity people show.

If you're able to, please support by donating. All donations very much appreciated.
