In On 5th July we will cycle from Big Ben to The Eiffel Tower over the course of three days, to raise money for ‘Reuben’s Research’. Reuben’s Research is a special fund created by family and friends to help support the ‘Neurosurgical Fund for Hydrocephalus Research’. We are aiming to raise enough money to fund a PHD student’s research project that will support others with this condition.
W H Y ?
Our son Reuben, was diagnosed with hydrocephalus when he was just 5 months old. Hydrocephalus is caused by a build up of fluid on the brain. Reuben’s in particular, was caused by an arachnoid cyst in his brain, stopping fluid processing through.
Reuben was treated at Alder Hey Hospital by Conor Malucci and his team who were absolutely amazing. And we want to show our gratitude by raising money and giving back.
So far we have a team of 12 cyclists along with two support ‘mechanics’ following in a van. None of us are avid cyclists.
The furthest I have been is from Huyton to Crosby beach so this is going to be a big challenge for all of us.
