Story

80 year old army veteran and Legionnaire John Thompson steps out again from the 22nd May 2023.

John has been raising funds for charities every year for the last 50 years, John has also been a Legionnaire for 50 years and this time is doing a 50 mile walk over 5 days for the Royal British Legion (Legion Scotland) as funds have been low due to the pandemic.

11 members of staff at head office Legion Scotland provide all types of assistance to their 22,000 members in 139 branches and 59 clubs all over Scotland. In the last couple of years they have achieved over £2 million in benefits through the Pensions & Advocacy. They are now putting a lot of effort into the Veterans Community Support Services and their support for veterans and their families across Scotland and looking at new ways to attract new members and to collaborate with other veteran groups across Scotland to deliver the best service and commemorating the memory of those who have served and are serving.

Please support them by donating to my Just Giving page.
