Story
Katherine House Hospice provide a much-needed facility to Banbury and its surrounds, in giving palliative care. As part of their fundraising activities, they have set a 'micro-challenge' of hiking up Yr Wyddfa (mount Snowdon) in time to greet the sunrise at the summit.
The last time I climbed Snowdon was over ten years ago with my son Charlie, a university friend and his son - so the hospice have provided the best reason for re-visiting the mountain.....and getting me out from behind my desk........the 4am start certainly adds an extra dimension.
A message from Katherine House.......we rely heavily on our local community to help fund the hospice. It costs £9 a minute to run Katharine House – that’s just under £13,000 per day. Your fundraising will not only help to fund the clinical costs at the hospice, but also all the extra services that make it such a special place – from bereavement support to art therapies, from relaxation class to the hospice food and so much more. Thank you from everyone at Katharine House Hospice for supporting this daring challenger!
A popular summit by daytime, it forms a real challenge by night, but the reward comes right at the very top and sun rise lights the spectacular Snowdonian mountain range.
