Story
I have been a very keen supporter for Re-Cycle for many years- I have lost count of the number of bikes and sapre parts etc. very kind people have passed on through me - it must be well into the 100's.
Now as a privileged trustee for Re-Cycle, I am keen to do something very challenging to help them. I have always wanted to ascend Kilimanjaro as a personal goal to add to my list of walks and climbs that include The Pennine Way, Hadrian's Wall, North Downs Way, and most high mountains in the UK. This is a great opportunity to raise much needed funds for Re-Cycle.
I have visited East Africa many times (mainly Kenya) and have made many friends both there and in the UK.
Re-Cycle (Bikes to Africa) receives used bikes and spare parts from the UK and ships them to rural communities in Africa. 649 million people live in rural communities in Africa, and many of these people must walk long distances to reach crucial services and social support networks.
Across the UK, thousands of bikes are thrown away or lie unused in sheds and garages, whilst many people in Africa do not have access to any form of transport. The charity has sent over 130,000 bikes to Africa since being in operation.
I look forward to you supporting people through Re-Cycle in this small way by sponsoring me. (Please note the full costs of the trip has been personally met by myself) all sponsorship raised goes directly to Re-Cycle, thank you.
