I will be taking part in the 2024 West Highland Way Race, which is a 95 mile ultramarathon consisting of 14,000 feet of elevation. The route follows the famous West Highland Way which starts in Milngavie and ends in Fort William.
I am taking part in this challenge to raise funds for the incredible charity that is SNAP (Special Needs Acton Project). SNAP is a charity based in Inverness which provides opportunities for young people and adults who have additional needs to socialise, experience new things, gain independence, and build friendships. This is done through the array of services that they offer, which include: After School Clubs, Weekend Breaks, Teen and Youth Clubs, Holiday Leisure Schemes, just to name a few!
SNAP is so important for both parent/carer and young person, due to the respite it gives their carers and the experiences of social interaction and new opportunities for the young person.
SNAP have recently expanded their services which has resulted in already doubling the amount of young people they can offer services to, and not only those from Inverness, but young people from across the Highlands. The funds raised during this will help SNAP keep providing the great care and opportunities to these young people who are in need of it, and who deserve it.
