Story
John Mackey died on November 14, 2025. He didn't want a funeral, but he did ask to be remembered with donations to Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Dad donated to every charity that asked for his support and he couldn't pass anyone in need without emptying his pockets or buying them a cup of tea.
It has been lovely for us as a family to read the messages about Dad here and on Facebook, particularly about his time at Beauchamp College where it seems he was a legendary drama teacher! One message that made us all laugh was: “What a man. In 2012 he had proudly never taken a sick day and proceeded to prove how fit he was by repeatedly kicking his leg over a chair. Always a great sense of humour and inspired many.” Oh, Dad!
Both Dad’s young granddaughters love drama and being on stage, so he lives on through their escapades (of which there are many...).
There are a few more photos of Dad in the gallery on this page - click the icon in the top-right corner of his photo.
Thanks for remembering Dad / John / Mr Mack and supporting this great charity, MSF.
With love, Diana, Molly and Tom.
