Story
Recognition:
50 years ago, a special teacher, Lawrence Whitehouse (aka "Luigi") inspired a generation of students at Farnborough Grammar School (later becoming Farnborough Sixth Form College) and we are just three of these "Old Fernebergians". He remains an inspiration to us for many reasons and this walk is in recognition of the positive impact he had on so many lives and the fact that he was and is a thoroughly good bloke.
Our objectives:
To complete the Wainwright Coast To Coast Walk continuously within three weeks as a three-person team with a combined age of 203 years. We believe this will be the oldest known three person team to complete this challenge; and
To raise a target of at least £1,000 for Fix the Fells, a charity nominated by The Wainwright Society; The British Heart Foundation; and The Saracens Sports Foundation.
The Saracens Foundation was founded in 2000 and delivers projects in North London and Hertfordshire using sport as a tool for positive change.
The Foundation works with the most socially-isolated groups in the community, from primary school children to the over-50s, disabled groups to young offenders to make a long lasting positive impact. Our programmes focus on improving the health and wellbeing, breaking down barriers to participation, and bettering the education and employability of our beneficiaries.
