Angels 2025 Birmingham to Overseal · 10 May 2025
On the 10th May 2025 a group of the Overseal Running Club (AKA Angels 2025) and myself, are embarking on a run from the Royal Orthopedic Hospital in Birmingham, to the Birmingham Children's Hospital and then run home to Overseal. The planned route is around 35 miles, so this is a daunting charity run for all of us.
We are doing this, as it was planned that Bethany was due to have her spinal surgery, but unfortunately this has been cancelled 3 times now. The operation will go ahead at some point as Bethany has now come to end of the life cycle for her Magnetic Rods. The procedure entails the removal of her Magnetic Rods, fuse each vertebra to straighten her spine as much as they can and insert new rods that will support her spine forever. As parents, this is very daunting but we know that Bethany will be in amazing hands, and therefore this is why we are doing this run. Personally for me, its taken me this long to come to terms since the last operation (6 years ago) to be mentally ready to go for a challenge like this.
All of the Angels 2025 crew know Bethany so well and have see her grow into this amazing young lady, that is so loving, affectionate and an amazing personality, that they and myself are doing this for her and this is all about Bethany, and the amazing work the Birmingham Children's hospital does for every child that is brought into the Hospital.
This is going to be a difficult run but one that is going to benefit a lot of young lives at the hospital, so for us all to do something and give something back is more than worth it.
The Overseal Running Club have celebrated their 10th anniversary this year, and what a way for them to support Bethany with this run. They are an amazing local running club that has benefited a lot of people in the village of Overseal, and proudly can call great friends.
Therefore, could you kindly dig deep and give what you can to help us smash the target we have set. The money goes to a great a cause, as explained by the Birmingham Children's hospital;
"At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.
Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases."
Thank you for taking your time to read this and thank you in advance for any donations. Any money we raise is truly appreciated.
