Cornwall Air Ambulance is raising money for a second air ambulance, so this vital emergency response service can operate 24/7 365 days a year.

To assist in this effort I am going to swim 1,000,000 metres (40,000 lengths of a normal 25 metre swimming pool) in the calendar year. I started on the 2nd January 2024, and must complete the entire distance by the 31st December.

The air ambulance is vital in getting the critically ill to hospital in the golden hour. 20% of the people unfortunate enough to need the air ambulance reside outside the county of Cornwall. So if you live in Cornwall, or visit the county for work or pleasure, your donation might contribute to the helicopter being available on the day you need its help. To swim 1,000,000 metres in a year, I have to swim 4000 metres (160 lengths) a day, six days a week for a year. That is 1,000 kilometres or 621.37 miles in total, the distance from Newquay to the Orkney Isles
