Story
This May, 30 members of the Hawthorn team have taken on the immense Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise vital funds for the Bradfield Club.
Located in the heart of Peckham, the Bradfield Club has existed for over a hundred years, offering young people, and the surrounding community in Southwark, a safe environment in which to play, learn, eat and find individual support.
The Club supports more than 400 young members and runs facilities and activities including sports, careers advice, meals, and mental health support whilst empowering them with opportunities to become healthy, and confident adults away from gangs, crime and harm.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge will see us hike 24 miles (38.6km), including 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. We will take on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres) in under 12 hours. These hills form part of the Pennine range, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Terrain rather than distance poses the biggest challenge to our team who will be met with steep hills and rocky descents.
At a time when many families are struggling more than ever before, we want to raise as much money as we can to help as many children as possible to get the much-needed support they deserve.
Your support is hugely appreciated, thank you.
