Story
My wife, Val, and I started supporting Mercy Ships many years ago after a visit to Liverpool, where we saw the Mercy Ship being refitted, and we decided to help. Through years of fundraising both individually and as a member of Rotary, I have continued to support them by being a speaker for Mercy Ships, raising money, providing equipment e.g. a dental suite for the ship and going to Sierra Leone to see Mercy Ships in action, help build a new hospital wing and set up the pharmacy.
Globally, there are five billion people who have no access to safe, affordable surgery when they need it. Mercy Ships is working hard to plug this gap. Since 1978, Mercy Ships has visited more than 70 countries, providing services worth more than £1 billion that have directly helped more than 2.5 million people. Mercy Ships has also trained more than 38,000 local health professionals in order to leave a legacy that lasts.
For my 80th birthday, I have decided to go Wing Walking and use this to raise much needed money for Mercy Ships. Please donate if you can!
