Story
John and Dave are taking part in Ride for Precious Lives 2025 for Children's Hospice South West from the 11th - 13th of July.
We will be cycling over 200 miles across 3 counties over 3 days to raise vital funds for children and young people living with life limiting conditions and their families.
We are doing this to celebrate the lives of Johns boys, Reuben and Bryn, who did everything in life together.
Johns story
Reuben and Bryn were born on the 20th January 2008 and at 27 months of age they were diagnosed with a genetic, neuro metabolic disease called Krabbes Leukodystrophy.
This was a terminal illness and shortly after their diagnosis they were put on medication and had gastrostomy’s fitted.
We were very lucky as a family that throughout the first few years the boys had many visits to Little Bridge House and then followed by visits to Little Harbour hospice which opened in December 2011. This was very beneficial as it is located in St Austell which made journeys much easier for rest-bite as well as being able to reach the hospice for emergency visits much more quickly.
Bryn passed away on the 29th of November 2012 and in a short time after Reuben passed away on the 4th of a July 2013. Both of the boys passed away at Little Harbour surrounded by family and friends.
The support from Little Bridge House and Little Harbour does not go unnoticed. They were a great help and support throughout this difficult time and we considered them as friends and family.
We are doing this bike ride on a tandem bike to represent the twins Reuben and Bryn.
We would be extremely grateful if you are able to donate as little or as much as possible to help this charity carry on helping and supporting families like Johns.
