Story
Jason’s Millbury Page
We are grateful to fundraise for HMEA after a lapse due to Covid after 4 years. The walk-run would give an excellent opportunity for the community to collaborate with HMEA to advance the cause of the Special Needs individuals.
The Day Hab program has almost returned to normal and has been able to start serving most of the individuals. The shortage of the direct care workers was the reason why more individuals could not be brought back to the program. The funds raised would be used for the direct-care staff, buy indoor and outdoor play equipment.
The Day Hab provides opportunities to do productive and fulfilling chores like sorting, vacuuming, recycling and delivering meals on wheels. They engage them in activities such as music, dancing, and community events.
Jason attends the Millbury Day Hab and lives with a shared living provider Genevieve and her son Marvin who has autism. Genevieve has taken care of Jason for almost 20 years. Her lived experience in bringing up Marvin has honed her skills to interact with non-verbal autistic individuals like Jason, like only a mother can. She communicates in the only language Jason understands, the language of love.
With our sincere appreciation and thanks.
