Past

It is extremely hard living with Diabetes, every day is a constant battle. It is also very difficult living with a loved one who suffers daily from this medical condition. My wonderful Husband Allan had Diabetes for 40 years. Allan and I often wondered if there would ever be a cure in our lifetime, but sadly he had to leave us early at the age of 51.

Our Family was devistated in March 2016 when Minnie my beautiful little Grand Daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the tender age of 2 and a half. Life as we knew it would never be the same - hospital, injections, insulin, pump, blood glucose monitor, carbohydrate counting, set changes hypos, hypers , glucose tablets , Dexcom sensors. Minnie has wonderful parents Nick and Jen who give her endless loving care, attention and support throughout the day and night to manage her illness. At School Minnie has Teachers and Teaching Assistants who are trained to manage Minnie's Diabetes.

Present

Minnie now 10 years old is an inspiration - to have to deal with everything that she goes through daily, she is very brave and takes everything in her stride. Minnie has an amazing personality, she reminds me of he Tad Cu (Grandad). Nothing will stop her- she had real gusto and a fighting spirit.

I would like to raise as much money as possible for JDRF.

Future

JDRF is the type 1 Diabetes charity - Improving lives until we find the cure. We are totally focused on type 1 diabetes. One day we will create a world without type 1 diabetes, until that day our support is vital for their world class research improving treatments until they find the cure.
