Story
If you don’t know, Joey was born and bred to be a guide dog. Unfortunately, he was a little bit too anxious to pass all the tests to qualify, but he has remained a very good boy to us, despite his hardships. He has the softest ears to listen to all of our problems and walks beside us at all times for consistent emotional support. I believe he would make the best Samaritans listening volunteer. We are so lucky to have him, but not everyone has someone close to them that can/will listen…
Samaritans is an incredible charity, my fellow volunteers and everyone involved in the organisation truly want to make a difference. So I’ve decided to combine 2 of my passions, Joey and the Samaritans, and join this challenge. Every penny counts!
Many people find it hard to speak openly or ask for help, but talking can be life-saving – whether it’s with a colleague, a family member, friend or a helpline like Samaritans. Every 10 seconds, Samaritans volunteers respond to a call for help. Samaritans are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to listen and support people with whatever they are facing, with no judgement. It’s the public’s kind donations and around 23,000 volunteers that mean Samaritans are always there for anyone struggling to cope. Thank you for your help.
