Story
Hi everyone! My name is Joey Siegel and I am beyond excited to announce that I'll be running in the New York City Marathon for a cause that holds a very special place in my heart: SCOPE. SCOPE stands for Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education, and is an organization that provides underprivileged kids with the chance to experience the magic of summer camp. As most of you know, my experiences at camp have shaped me into who I am today, fostering my closest friendships that feel more like family (and actually are family!). It's where I gained my independence and found the best version of myself.
Running the New York City Marathon has been a lifelong dream of mine. When I ran on my middle school track team, my mom (a past marathon runner herself) brought me into NYC to cheer on the runners, and ever since that day I was inspired to add it to my list of life goals. Now, I have the chance to follow in her footsteps while supporting a cause that means so much to me.
As a 23-year-old recent graduate from the University of Michigan (go blue!), I have begun my career in the “real world” and can no longer spend my summers at camp, but I love visiting every weekend and training on the windy camp roads. Thank you in advance for your support on my journey. Your donations will directly impact SCOPE's efforts to send deserving kids to camp, where they can create lifelong memories and friendships just like I did at Tyler Hill!!
