Story
ALL RACE NIGHT TICKETS SOLD OUT, RAFFLE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE!
On 1st November 2013, we lost an incredibly special, kind and wonderful individual who was so dear to so many. James Campbell, aged 16, died of an undiagnosed heart condition. Since his death, the James Campbell Memorial Fund has been established and many young people have benefitted from a heart screening through the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Every week, at least 12 young people in the UK die from undiagnosed heart conditions. CRY works to reduce the risk of sudden cardiac death in the young. Funds raised will go towards specialist screenings and referrals, important medical research and providing support to sufferers and families.
To honour James we want to raise money to make sure that the loss of such a remarkable soul never happens again. Hidden heart defects can be detected by means of a simple heart screening and our aim is to screen young people 14-35 years of age, here, on Teesside.
To raise the funds for the CRY screening sessions in Teesside, we are hosting a race night on 27th April 2024 at St Francis' Social Club in Whinney Banks. Our target is £2000 which is, admittedly, a large amount of money but any donation, big or small (even a £1) would be gratefully received. Even if you are unable to donate, just sharing this page would be a big help in raising awareness.
Tickets for the race night are £7.50 for an adult and £2.50 for a child and include a meal of pie and peas or a hotdog for children. You can also pay to own a horse for £2 and buy raffle tickets for £1 each. Tickets, sponsors and raffle tickets can be bought through this page, simply state what you are paying for when you make your donation and we will make a note of this. Tickets will be on the door on the night.
The time has come to raise money in memory of an amazing person who will forever be missed. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
