Story

About the Event

On Monday, 18th March, I will be streaming for 8hrs non-stop, between Midday-8pm (GMT), on the 'Joel vs Arthritis' Twitch channel, playing Minecraft on our viewer-joinable peer support community server.

With a total of 16 hours of livestreaming between 16th and 18th March, we hope that whatever your work commitments or timezone, you'll be able to join us at some point over the weekend leading up to WORD Day.

We will build a mass community project that anyone with access to Minecraft can join in with for free to raise awareness of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and vital funds for the small UK charity CCAA in a fun and supportive way this WORD Day.

Join in with the chat, have your Minecraft skills shown off live on stream and be part of a unique, supportive community.

Why wait until the big day? Join our Minecraft server and peer support Discord community here: https://discord.gg/sdG2cBSkY8

About our Twitch Channel

Our Twitch channel exists to raise awareness of chronic illness and pain and meet patients where they are in between appointments. To create safe, supportive spaces and to build a peer community that allows anyone to enjoy gaming as an escape and way of managing their health realities socially.

We stream easily accessible games that encourage fun and audience interaction and facilitate conversation and distraction. So nobody ever needs to apologise for needing a bio-break, more time or their skill level. So nobody ever needs to deal with their IRL alone. Our streams are for everyone.

About CCAA

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is a rheumatic condition affecting children and young people and can take several different forms. CCAA is a volunteer-led charity run by people who have been affected by JIA and are passionate about supporting others. We have no statutory funding and have to fundraise every penny we spend. Donations help to fund all the projects and events we run across the country and, of course, all the family support services we operate, too. Without donations, we simply can't continue to support families that need our help.

About WORD Day

World yOung Rheumatic Diseases Day is an annual event that takes place on 18th March to raise awareness of rheumatic disease in children. The ultimate aim of WORD Day is to raise the awareness and knowledge level in parents, doctors, primary practitioners, teachers, and the general public to help first and foremost in early diagnoses and a quick referral to specialised paediatric rheumatologists.
