My Story
In December 2023 I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. At 37 years old I still was of the mindset the breast cancer happens to ‘older’ people - turns out that triple negative breast cancer is the most common form of breast cancer in the under 40’s and is also the most aggressive form of breast cancer and early detection is vital and life saving. It is thanks to the work of coppa feel that I was checking myself and found the lump. As scary as it was I couldn’t be more thankful for the work that coppa feel do, without it life for me and my family would look very different today.
I have gone through a challenging 16 months of treatment, involving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery to get rid of the cancer and I am lucky enough to say I am cancer free. I am now on a clinical trial of further immunotherapy and chemotherapy to prevent the return of the cancer!
I have decided to celebrate coming to the end of my treatment in May this year by taking part in the CoppaFeel! Isle of Skye 5 day trek this June to hopefully raise awareness as well as lots of money to help them to continue their important work and to help more people get the early diagnosis and treatment that is so important!
I would appreciate any support you can give and more importantly please check yourself!
CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest.
We educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests regularly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves. We do this because when diagnosed early and accurately, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection truly can save lives.
