Story
As most people will already know, this charity is well known to our family and close to our hearts.
My younger sister was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal segmental glomerular sclerosis) nephrotic syndrome just before she started high school.
FSGS does not have a known cure and there is always a high chance of recurrence (between 30-70%) after transplant.
Fortunately after a second (and successful) transplant, my sister is now able to live her life to the fullest without all the restrictions she had to endure for close to 10 years, including food, fluid and life event restrictions, being severely underweight and confined to a hospital bed multiple days a week for treatment.
This charity has helped her in more ways than we can begin to imagine and more awareness needs to be raised about the wonderful work it does so that more people can get the help they deserve, and we can find a cure for this horrible disease that takes so many lives each year. My sister is one of the lucky ones.
I am therefore running the Manchester 10k on Sunday 26th May 2024 to raise funds for Kidneys for Life and would be especially grateful for any support (no matter how big or small).
Thank you for your donation to Kidneys for Life - we're so grateful for your support.
It's only with generous donors like you that we're able to continue with our research that will help us get that one step closer to finding better treatments, & ultimately a cure, for kidney disease.
The Manchester 10k is a wonderful way to raise valuable funds for a small but vital charity.
