Hello!

We're dipping my toes (and the rest of me!) into the sea to raise funds for POW Thanet.

We'll be regularly swimming in the sea all the way through to International Women's day on 8 March 2025.

POW delivers an arts festival each March in Thanet- 2025 is the 10th year! POW also works with young people to educate them about feminism and gender equality; run impactful creative projects and exhibitions, create paid opportunities for local artists, and raises awareness and generate debate around gender equality issues.

Why do they do this? POW sees the arts as a powerful mechanism for discussion and social change, and statistics show that women in Thanet live 10 years less than the average UK woman due to the social issues that affect them.

POW envisions a world where gender equality is a reality for everyone in Thanet and beyond. We believe the arts and creativity have the transformative power to make the world more equal. We hope to raise the profile of Thanet as a location where the power of the arts and creativity can improve gender equality, and bringing gender equality-focussed creative content to communities and individuals that have been historically underserved.
