Story
The date of this sponsored walk, 29th May, is very special not only because it is my birthday, but also because my Dad, Tony, and Anna's Dad, Phil, have the same birthday. I was born on their 30th birthdays, so as long as I can remember my birthday has been a big combined celebration.
The Strickland Scanner is very important - it has helped many, many cancer sufferers to be accurately diagnosed so they receive suitable treatment for their cancers.
Both Tony and Phil were diagnosed with prostate cancer and the Paul Strickland Scanner was used to help decide what treatments they needed. Sadly, my Dad had additional serious health issues and passed away despite having his cancer successfully removed. Phil is still fighting cancer and very much appreciates the scanner which is used to keep track of his cancer’s progress so his treatment can be adjusted as and when necessary.
Anna and I (along with our husband's) are hoping to raise money to help the Paul Strickland Centre keep up its essential work in the fight against cancers of many kinds.
Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is an independent charity working to improve lives of people with cancer and other serious conditions. They do this through medical research and by providing the best patient care using high quality scanners.
