Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June 2024 I went through a percutaneous pulmonary valve replacement and I was blown away by the care and support given by the staff in this hospital. When I was lying in my hospital bed I was wondering about how I could give something back.
Research has also allowed this procedure to be preformed keyhole and not open heart which I had in 2008. This is incredible and this hospital is a specialist for all those who have Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) ..I would like to raise more awareness about ACHD.
ACHD has become an increasingly important field as more children with CHDs survive into adulthood due to advances in pediatric cardiac care. These patients require ongoing medical attention and sometimes surgical interventions throughout their lives.
I have previously raised £2245 for Birmingham Children’s hospital so now it’s time to raise some money for the next stage of my medical journey.
I will be doing this London 10k Halloween walk in October to raise money for this amazing hospital and so they continue to carry on research into this area
I also particularly want to raise money for more beds in the theatre room in the cardiac ward as on the day of my surgery I personally had to give up mine for more elderly patients. The day of my surgery they only had 6 beds available. It really is incredible what goes on in that theatre room.
I have decided to do this walk with friends and family. This will also be a challenge for me as I have been unable to do any exercise since April due to Pericarditis so the training starts now.
