Story
Having taken up running rather late in life as a way of improving health and general wellbeing I had never really considered taking part in a serious run. After experiencing the fantastic atmosphere in my hometown on Great North Run day last year, however, I felt tempted to take part and Gary agreed to take on the challenge with me.
Over the last few years we have seen people close to us experiencing mental health difficulties and struggling to access the help they need. Additionally, my work as a SENCo means that I see daily how undiagnosed or unsupported mental health difficulties impact the lives of young people. At a time when mental health issues are increasing and support services are over-stretched, MIND offers invaluable advice and support.
We have not approached friends and family for sponsorship before and are unlikely to do so in the future. Completing a half-marathon will be a real stretch for us, but training is going well and we are confident that we can be ready for the day. We would hugely appreciate any support you feel able to offer.
Let's show everyone with a mental health problem that they are not alone. Stand with us and fight for mental health by supporting our run for Mind.
The money we raise will make a real difference.
