Story
Esther and I are cycling from South London to Putsborough beach to raise money for City Kids Surfing! https://www.getcitykidssurfing.com/
Yes that's right, a friend will now join me on this overambitious 230 mile journey! The route symbolises the surf trip we make each summer (though by minibus) with a group of kids, many of whom have never been to the coast or seen the ocean.
By partnering with three primary schools across South London, we give kids the opportunity to experience the amazing benefits of being in the water by taking away barriers such as cost, lack of diverse representation and fear/lack of confidence around water.
Over the 4-day Easter bank holiday, we'll be riding our very average bikes in an attempt to get the charity closer to a target of £5k so we can make this summer's surf trip happen. We'll be armed with super basic kit (no cleats or electric boosts) and exceptionally poor navigation skills. Esther and I have taken many a work trip together before, and each time we've forgotten something important, booked accommodation for the wrong dates or somehow fallen over whilst standing still. So this will be no ordinary cycle, and we will add many unnecessary challenges along the way.
Any donations would be gratefully received and will go directly to making sure the kids have an unforgettable adventure!
